Appalachian STEM Enrichment Academy Spring 教育 Sessions

The 沃伊诺维奇学校 of 领导 and Public Service will offer a 3-week Appalachian STEM Enrichment Academy (ASEA) program for middle school students grades 5-8 to participate in an interactive learning opportunity focused on water quality from the Appalachian counties. The sessions will be held completely online. Sessions will be both synchronous and asynchronous. There is no charge to participate, limit of 20 students.
The learning objectives for the Water Quality ASEA Cohort:

- Compare characteristics of healthy and polluted streams
- List sources of waste and their impact to streams and rivers
- Describe the physical features important for aquatic life
- List ways a person can become a citizen scientist
- Collect water quality data and share publicly
- Describe the watershed they live in and potential impacts

水质测试套件
A basic 水质测试套件 will be mailed to student to be used with the sessions. This kit allows students to make water quality measurements from a water body near their home and share their data on My Backyard Stream. Contents of the kit include: Field data sheets, a bottle of 5-in-1 test strips pH strips, 钳, 大型无脊椎动物ID表, 培养皿, 一个吸管, 还有一个放大镜.

This spring the 沃伊诺维奇学校 of 领导 and Public Service will offer a 2-week Appalachian STEM Enrichment Academy (ASEA) program for the Appalachian counties middle and high school students grades 8-12 to participate in an interactive learning opportunity focused on the fourth industrial revolution digital transformation: the mentioned technologies (or rather groups of technologies) such as Internet of Things, 人工智能(AI), 无人机, 虚拟和增强现实. There is no charge to participate, limit of 22 students.
The learning objectives for the fourth industrial revolution digital transformation ASEA Cohort are shown below.
- What are the main characteristics of Artificial intelligence (AR)? What are the applications of augmented reality AR in manufacturing?
- What are the advantages of 人工智能(AI)? 人工智能的目的是什么?
- 什么是无人系统? Learn about drones and how they are used in the real world. How are Aerial 无人机s applied today and in the industry?
- 学习制造机器人! Play and experiment with the world’s most popular open-source robot to develop hardware and software tech skills.

物联网奥托机器人套件
Participants can use this kit to build and program using a visual programming language based on Blockly from Google. A Bluetooth module allows the student to remote control via the mobile App. We will ship the Otto Kit to their home addresses.
